Clinical Staff Member
Jill

Clinical Advisor (Outdoor Therapies)
Jill is the founder of WYC and established the charity to be able to provide young people with longer term counselling. Jill is a qualified counsellor, supervisor, and outdoor therapist. Before Jill began her counselling training she also qualified in youth and community work.

Jill is passionate about helping young people connect with the natural world and leads the outdoor therapy programme for WYC. Jill is also keen to help young people make transitions in life and has an interest in young people’s spirituality. Jill also offers parent consultations and has over 30 years' experience of working with young people and families.

When she is not working, Jill enjoys body boarding, walking, tennis, and playing the guitar (not all at the same time!).

Rose

Clinical Co-Lead (Services)
Rose has a background in music and teaching. She trained as a counsellor with The Place2Be, the Metanoia Institute and King’s College, London and worked therapeutically with children and young people in schools across London for 9 years before moving to Hampshire in 2020. She also has experience of supporting parents and working with adults within an NHS IAPT service.

Rose joined WYC in 2022. She enjoys spending time in nature and listening to music.

Lucy

Clinical Co-Lead (Development)
Lucy completed her therapeutic integrative counselling training with CPCAB, followed by a diploma in counselling adolescents. Prior to this she had a background in law. Lucy is a BACP Registered and Accredited counsellor.

She has worked with young people in schools, colleges and university settings, as well as both young people and adults in private practice. Lucy joined WYC as a counsellor in 2020 and currently works 1-2-1 with clients as well as overseeing our counselling work in schools and clinical aspects of our groups and parent support programme.

Lucy enjoys playing and watching various sports, as well as spending time by the sea and anywhere in nature.

Owen

Counsellor
Owen joined WYC in 2022. Achieving their Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and Certificate in Hypnotherapy and Counselling Skills after gaining ten years of academic teaching and youth work experience as a qualified teacher, youth worker and advocate for young people affected by autism.

An accredited member of both the National Counselling Society and the National Hypnotherapy Society. Alongside 1:1 counselling, both at WYC and Walk & Talk therapy, Owen also co-facilitates our nature therapy sessions and mental health drop-in service.

With a passion for making a difference in people lives through creativity and nature they are an enthusiastic counsellor who draws from the experience of working with a diverse range of clients. Having been successful as a diversity lead, equalities and diversities consultant, Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) champion and nominated for the National Diversity Awards 2018 they will strive to make clients experiences the best they can be.

Howard

Counsellor
Howard has been a BACP accredited counsellor for over twenty years, having previously been employed in Health Service and university management. He has been working at Winchester Youth Counselling since 2017. Prior to that, he worked at Southampton Counselling Service and at a GP surgery in St Mary's, Southampton.

Carella

Counsellor
Carella joined WYC in April 2020 and is a fully qualified BACP registered counsellor, with Post Graduate Diplomas in both Counselling and in Psychology, with a specialist interest and experience of working with children and young people, both inside and outside of a school setting.

She trained at the University of East London and Place2Be - a national charity which promotes the emotional well-being and mental health of children and young people and since then has worked in both primary and secondary schools in London and Hampshire and in a sixth form college, as well as working in private practice.

Her present clients at WYC range from the ages of 11 – 25 years. She is an integrative counsellor and uses several therapeutic approaches to inform her practice including Person-centred, Gestalt, psychodynamic therapy, and CBT. She sees clients with many different issues including anxiety, anger, depression, trauma, and loss.

When not at work, Carella is the mother of three sons, has two dogs and three goats and loves walking, travelling, reading and theatre.

Lily

Counsellor
Lily has a background in Fine Art. After a year of training in the Therapeutic Arts at the Institute for Therapy and Arts in Education in London, she stayed on to completing a Diploma in Child Psychotherapeutic Counselling.

Lily is BACP registered and has been working with children and adolescence for 4 years before starting with WYC in 2022. Since working at WYC Lily has been involved in group work and Walk and Talk, as well as seeing clients at our offices.

She enjoys nature, listening to music, and playing the drums.

Zoe

Counsellor
Zoe has a background in teaching and support work with children and families from early years to teenagers. Zoe joined WYC on training placement in 2021 and has continued to work for the organisation both at the agency and in a local secondary school since becoming fully qualified. Zoe enjoys trail running and it was while taking part in a local race in 2019 that she first heard of the amazing work of WYC.

When not working, Zoe enjoys relaxing with pilates, a good book or long dog walk.

Donna

Counsellor
Donna is a fully qualified and registered member of the BACP and joined the WYC counselling team in 2022. Since then, Donna has also started counselling in a school on behalf of WYC and facilitates a weekly group session. She uses an integrative approach, drawing on different approaches to inform her work with young people.

Iona

Counsellor
Iona joined the WYC counselling team in 2022. Iona’s 20 years’ experience as teacher highlighted to her the need for greater pastoral care and counselling for children and young people. She has been a school counsellor for Place2Be and has a MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy for Children, Adolescents and Families.

Iona facilitates WYC monthly Parent Support groups, our weekly Wellbeing Walk-In, University of Winchester Wellbeing Group, Ukrainian Support Group alongside 1:1 client work. Iona is also an Autism Ambassador.

Sara

Counsellor
Sara has been working as a counsellor with WYC since 2013, mainly in schools and more recently helping to facilitate the Parent Support groups. For the past two years Sara has led the Winchester College counselling team and continues to provide medium to long term counselling support to the college students. In her work Sara offers creative and reflective counselling support to young people, building supportive therapeutic relationships to help facilitate positive change.

Sara is a qualified counsellor with an MA in Child, Adolescent and Family Psychotherapy, a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling Children in Schools and a Diploma in Sand play studies.

Rebecca

Counsellor
Rebecca is an integrative arts psychotherapeutic counsellor working exclusively with children and young people. She is BACP registered and working towards UKCP registration.

She joined WYC in September 2025 but prior to this, she worked as a counsellor in schools and colleges in Hampshire and Surrey.

Rebecca enjoys being in nature and spending time by the sea.

Ann

Counsellor
Ann qualified as a clinical psychologist and has worked for many years in the NHS with people of all ages.

In addition she has supported families and young people in an Innovations families project, Home Start, as a mentor in school and as a foster carer.

She is trained in a range of therapies but mainly uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help people manage their thoughts and feelings better so that they can focus on what matters most to them.

In her spare time, she enjoys being with her family, cooking and doing exercise outdoors.

Francesca

Counsellor
Francesca is a Psychodynamic Psychotherapist. She trained at Birkbeck, University of London, earning an MSc in Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy and a PGCert in Psychodynamic Practice. She is currently completing a Diploma to work with adolescents aged 11 and above.

She is a registered member of the BACP and practices privately in Winchester. She has supported postgraduate students at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and is a sessional counsellor for a brain cancer charity. Her interest in working with young people grew from volunteering at an educational charity for women and girls, where she understood the lasting impact of early emotional support.
