Experienced Sessional Counsellor
8 client hours per week (flexible days / times)
Rate of pay £29.20 per hour
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and qualified counsellor (BACP registered / accredited) to work with young people aged 11-25 both in our offices in central Winchester and offering Walk & Talk counselling in a local Nature Reserve. Minimum 2 years post-qualification experience required.
Weekly group supervision will be provided free of charge (2 hours per month). Supervision will take place at an agreed time with a supervisor appointed by WYC. Supervision can be face-to-face or online. We cannot guarantee that supervision will be on the same day as the client hours.
The Counsellor will be required to provide 8 client hours per week across Mon - Thurs, with priority given to those who can offer 2pm, 3pm, 4pm and 5pm appointments. Opportunities for additional work may arise including in our paid for service, Oak Tree Counselling (to be discussed at interview).
Appointment subject to enhanced DBS check and favourable references. Expected start date: 15th October 2026
Contract length: 1 year (renewable depending on funding)

Trainee Counsellors (placement info)
We generally recruit for two new trainees each year, to see three young people each week for longer term counselling. We usually advertise in the summer (May / June) to start in September. Please keep an eye out for an advert in the summer, bearing in mind that we are looking for trainees who:
· Are entering their final year of a qualification in counselling young people at Level 4 or higher
· Can make a commitment to weekly supervision, which we offer as part of the placement
· Have some experience of working with young people therapeutically or in a pastoral capacity
· 6 months of weekly personal therapy already undertaken, to continue throughout the placement
· Have student membership of the BACP
