For the second year running, members of the WYC team provided a 'Volunteer Takeover' at Winchester Parkrun cheering on almost 500 runners to complete the 5km course on a beautiful Saturday morning.

It provided our CEO, Hannah, with an opportunity to talk to the runners before the event, inform them of the services provided by WYC, the demand on the service and the challenges the charity faces with regards to fundraising.

It also linked wonderfully to the upcoming Winchester Half Marathon where we are looking for runners to run on behalf of the charity and help raise vital funds. If you are reading this and interested in running for WYC, please email fundraising@winchyc.org and we will be in touch!

We were chosen by The Community Café in Sutton Scotney to be their charity of the month with proceeds from the morning going to WYC.

It's a lovely community event bringing people together and provides the opportunity for local residents to meet up with friends and make new ones whilst enjoying a drink and a homemade cake.

Members of the WYC team were lucky enough to attend, meet the volunteer team and local residents and it seemed rude not to sample some of the cake whilst attending.

We are incredibly grateful to The Community Café team for their continued support of WYC and hope to return in 2027.
